Donald Kelly Featured Me

Donald Kelly wrote a cool post about young bloggers, and he featured me! :)

Phuket, I’ll Go.

I saw this on Paul Walsh’s blog and I think it’s brilliant. It made me laugh, despite how tired and humourless I’m feeling at the moment.

I Passed! :D

I’ve been thinking about writing this for a few days, but ultimately decided that I should wait until I got my results first.
No, it’s not my GCSE’s *yet*. Last Monday/Tuesday, I did a powerboat course. Got to drive around for two days, practiced rescuing bob (the doll man overboard thing) and such. It was good.
Anyhow, [...]

Couldn’t Agree With This More

I couldn’t agree with this post about Google Knol more. Search Engines are search engines, not content producers.

July PR Update

It seems that there is a pagerank update going on, Matt Cutts indicated that it was starting on his blog over here.
Thing is, for most people, it’s going to be a few days before they can see their new ranks. I’m actually not all that concerned about it, it’s just a number, but for those [...]

DreamSpark

I just discovered (through a friend) a program that Microsoft are running called DreamSpark. Basically, it means that their giving away full versions of their developer software, to students (like me  ) completely free. No cost.
The website has a strange URL, but the design is quite funky, it was designed by 9 Star Research, [...]

Changing your Wordpress username to something other than admin is reportedly a good way to help stave off brute force or dictionary attacks, where the hacker already knows your username and is only trying for your password.
It can be done by opening up PHPmyAdmin, going to the users table, and locating the user_login column. If [...]

I just got banned from DigitalPoint for 7 days. Any explination? God no. Just a link to some page where some aaron nimocks guy said that their banning everyone who makes a slight discression in the BST forum, or people that have in the past. That’s fair, right?
You know what’s also clever? The ban message [...]

S3 Down?

It looks like Amazon S3 has gone down, which is the first time since I started using it extensively. It’s a pain, because I was going to upload a massive bunch of pictures :(
UPDATE: It’s coming back. Yay!

MOD Announces YET MORE losses

I just read this over here, MOD has now admitted to losing 650 laptops in the last four years. That’s one every other day. How does the Ministry in charge of the whole countries defence manage to lose THAT MUCH? It stinks of incompetence, I think.
As if that’s not enough, they’ve also lost over a [...]

NoDPI

I’m going to go ahead and give my support to NoDPI, because I believe that what BT and Phorm (and other ISPs) are doing is wrong. I’m going to be lending them my support for the new design, as cheaply as possible, if not free. There’s a summary of what they intend to do below [...]

Morocco Pictures

I decided to upload my Morocco photos onto Flickr, which I got a premium account for, mainly because Flickr is faster, and for $25, means I don’t have to store any images. Plus, I like the bar on the right showing my latest shots.
You can find the Morocco 2008 collection here, the timestamps on the [...]

Should I be Worried?

Okay, I’m slightly concerned. I just made a payment, through Paypal, to Yahoo (~Flickr) for a pro account. Nothing wrong there.
But I just looked at the receipt email thing, and saw this:

Should I be worried? For those that haven’t noticed, look at the history URL at the bottom of the image. I’m starting to be [...]

Morocco

As I posted earlier and twittered; I’m back from my holiday in Morocco. I had an amazing time, spoiled slightly by the poor flight back, but everything preceeding that was amazing.
I took hundreds of photos, I’m just sorting them out into the ones worth putting online (I’ll make a full gallery post in a few [...]
